Busy week

August 11th, 2008

Happy Monday,

Wow. This past week has been a very busy one but I can’t complain. Makes the time move fast.

I had a release come out on Sat, which was a shocker because I had been told it would be on Monday. Sin is Not a Four-Letter Word, is available through Phaze. And also I have a release through Total E-Bound titled, Through the Fire. I am very please with both of these stories and had a lot of fun writing them.

Sunday wasn’t a good day since I had aspirations of finishing up a ms and sending it off to my beta reader. However since I was maintaining a temp of about 103, not much writing got done. Sitting up at the computer wasn’t a good idea, being doped up and laying flat was…sooo despite being frustrated with myself for not hitting that deadline all else is pretty good. I’ve come up with some pretty major decisions which I will tell later once I’m positive with my direction on said things.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and I’ll check in again in 7.
Happy reading,
~Aliyah

TV pleasures: So You Think You Can Dance - Finale

August 8th, 2008

Wow. This season of So You Think You Can Dance was great. And the winner. I’m pleased about it.

I’m sad to see it end. I love watching the contestants learn dances out of there comfort zone. The choreography for the finale was wonderful. Made me laugh, cry and cheer.

I’m anxsiously waiting for next summer for another season of So You Think You Can Dance.

August 7th, 2008

mjbday_small.jpgAugust is my birthday and I’m having a birthday bash at my yahoo group. To celebrate my birthday this month I will be posting random free reads that are exclusive for McKenna Jeffries List members only. This is my gift to my chat group readers.

In order to get the free reads you must be a member of my yahoo group -

McKenna Jeffries List

Below is the Cover of the first story that I have given as a free read. I’ve been asked many times about which story was the first I wrote for Trescott Cove. I wrote 14 Hours years ago around Valentine’s Day. Ulrich Willis and Jenisha Vincent stole my heart and I already had a vision of the town they would live in and the many people in the town to get to know.

I’m glad to give to my chat group readers the free read 14 Hours the first story I wrote for Trescott Cove. For more on this story and others check out my yahoo group.

Have a great week.

A shifter and a woman with untapped powers, can they discover the magnitude of her potential before it’s too late?

Aren Van der Ness has been away from Savoy Valley for a few years, but returned at the request of a friend. A man used to being alone, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the woman he was asked to investigate, Nahia Freeman. From their first meeting, he knows that this woman possesses incredible powers. Can he help her learn to harness them while dealing with his fierce attraction to her?

Nahia Freeman is visiting Savoy Valley, finally finding solitude and escape from the strange dreams that have haunted her and the men who seemed to follow her. All that changes when she meets the tall, golden-brown eyed Aren. The emotions he evokes in her are like nothing she’s ever experienced before, and they send her reeling. Anytime she’s near him, she feels different, as if she’s losing control of something. After deciding to keep her distance from him and his pull on her, Nahia finds that he is apparently the only one who can help her. So, swallowing back her desire for him, she puts her future in his hands.

With the clock ticking down and unsure of what they are up against, will Aren be able to keep her safe by being her guardian? Or will the guardian prove to be the one in need of protection? What will happen because of destiny, or the prophecy that is so much more than either realizes? Can all they know be saved by the Sentinel?

Family Adventures

July 31st, 2008

I’ve been having fun with my visiting family. Showing them the sights. Some of the places we’ve been are Build a Bear, NY Aquarium, Museum of Natural History and of course shopping. Lots and lots of shopping. {grin} No wonder I’m tired. Off to even more fun. So what have you been up to this summer.

Love Is in the Air

July 29th, 2008

August will see a lot of changes in my life. My best friend from Florida will be staying with me for awhile and then moving on to Philadelphia to prepare for her wedding. I, too, and getting ready for my own wedding, and I couldn’t be happier… Until my neat-freak, everything-must-be-perfect, expensive-taste-having fiance starts getting on my nerves. With love, of course.

Seven years ago, my best friend and I swore we’d never get married or “bless” the world with children. But the past six months has made us crazier, more willing to compromise, and more open to love. I blame Planet Sedna, Tom Cruise, and Madris DePasture. Each of these malevolent entities have orbited around me for so long that I’m dizzy.

Free. Katie.

Enjoy your summer, y’all!

Busy

July 28th, 2008

Happy Monday, y’all;

I hope your week was a good one and I also hope that this following one is as well.

I’ve been staying busy w/ edits and trying to finish up more stories. My story The Princess and the Marquess is out at Lulu in ebook or print and is supposed to be up on the Midnight Showcase site as well. I’ve very excited about that, I had a lot of fun with Lucian and Ciara.

I have only 2 days left at job number three. Can I just yell about how excited I am about this…man…I thought these days would never get here.

My new puppy is keeping me running around as well. She’s verra cute but I tell you, I’d forgotten how much work they are. But oh so worth it.

Okay, so I’m off to get back to work on this one story, it’s taken me 3 days to get the man in the car…he’s just stubborn. Anywho…have a stellar week and I’ll be back to check in in August.

Happy reading,
~Aliyah

TV pleasures: So You Think You Can Dance - More

July 25th, 2008

I’m really enjoying So You Think You Can Dance although I do disagree with some of those who went home. I love watching the contestants learn dances out of there comfort zone.

The choreography is beautiful and made me cry in some places. Mia and Tyce are some of my fav choreographers. I added another fav Napoleon and Tabitha. The dances have been beautiful to watch. The routines are great and the bar is definitely higher.

I have my fav for who I want to win. There has been some good dances and bad. The dancers personalities are interesting. The show is almost done and then we have to wait until next summer for another. I am already bummed about it. I can’t wait to see who will win this years So You Think You Can Dance.

The paths of writing

July 24th, 2008

These last few month’s I’ve been busy working on some projects. It’s fun delving into world and new characters. Getting to know all about them and bring them to life. When I write that first word I get a thrill.

As the words unfold I get even more excited. Writing a book is like a painting to me. First I study the page. Decide how to lay my colors for the best picture. Each piece has to work with each other to create something great. Off to work on my project.
